Hi guys,

This is my first post and my first visit to this forum

I am over the moon that I have just scored a place on the Diploma course in Dewsbury. Now it seems the hard work starts...

I have sent an application for placement to Leeds Counseling, but would like to cast my net wider in case this doesn't come off. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience that they could share.

Many thanks

Hi and welcome,

I am a second year MA student at the University of Leeds and my placement is at Leeds Counselling. It's a great placement, but unfortunately, due to recession, the numbers of clients have reduced and they will be taking on a reduced number of students this year. I hope your application is successful. But to be on the safe side it's better to apply to several different places. Try local NHS trusts, Universities and Colleges counselling services, hospices and numerous voluntary organisations offering counselling + there's always Cruise. My university had a list of potential placements and they also notify us when any placements become available somewhere. It's worth checking with your college if they can help. Good luck with that. Looking for a placement can be frustrating, but you'll get there eventually.

Best wishes,
Gala
