Hi LisaJane! Firstly, I think online courses can be valuable and certainly have their place in counselling training, however they cannot replace 'face-to-face' learning as the very nature of counselling is about human interactions, and the training should reflect this. I don't know about the UK open...

For me, hugs in a professional counselling session are a big no-no!!! I feel that there is a strong potential to confuse or mislead clients if I give or recieve hugs, especially of that client is struggling with personal boundaries etc. I think physical contact/touch is a totally seperate issue thou...

I suppose it's not so much the work that is different, more the setting and how I work with reg...

I dont know if you can compare diplomas and degrees, I think it's a bit like trying to compare apples and shoes!!! I'm not sure who you are studying with or who your awarding body is, but if you do a CPCAB course http://www.cpcab.co.uk/index.php you could count the level 4 diploma towards an Open Un...

I don't work from home, there is no way my home would ever be tidy enough. :cheesy: I relate to this!!!! I agree about a peer supervision group being an excellent way of keeping in touch with other counsellors and sharing experiences (I spoke of this a minute ago in another thread!!). It could also...
