| I'd be interested to hear what people's views are on hugs from/to clients. When I was in training, I took the line that I just wouldn't have any physical contact at all with clients, and I am really happy with this position.... except occasionally clients do just descend on me at the end of a sessio... |

| Hi there I'm being lazy I suppose, I could go and read a book for do some googling, but let's ask you guys instead: Every now and then I get clients who don't think immediately think of themselves as creative, but who maybe do some crafty stuff like card-making or embroidery that I feel might genera... |

Thom, good rant, full of good points!
I think 'anger management' is just one of those terms that people recognise, so I use it sometimes, when really I just mean 'working with anger in a number of ways, as seems appropriate at the time'. |

Hi Jane
I do like the idea of an informal peer supervision group! I'd be interested in hearing how you got yours set up, how you go about it and how members are chosen. Tell tell tell please...... |

| Hmmm, Hi Caius I've been wondering what it could mean. I've never heard of this, but I wondered if it was supposed to be a 'service user centre d approach'... could it be that? Because if so, I suspect it would mean the same as a 'client-centred' approach (also sometimes known as person-centred). I ... |

| Hi everybody I have just been reading Therapy Today, where the letters section is full of strong opinions on the subject of Human Givens Psychotherapy, and the marketing of this approach by Mindfields College. They certainly do seem to have a big marketing budget. Has anybody here got opinions they ... |

| Hi I don't work from home, there is no way my home would ever be tidy enough. Isolation I think is a problem I would struggle with, and even though I don't work from home I feel there is a risk of this. In my practice we have set up a group supervision to run alongside 1 to 1 supervision that people... |

| Hello, and thanks to all who shared on this topic. Yes, Thom, I'm feeling slightly better about it now and actually thinking about this and people's comments have indeed brought to my mind how perhaps I could use supervision more for my self-care and self-exporation as well as for specific client is... |

Actually Mel I do have personal therapy, thanks.
As it turned out, one of these endings was a mistake: client got the date wrong, and has rebooked... this certainly cheered me up.
Still, I'd welcome others thoughts, wisdom and experience in unplanned endings, if anybody has anything to share. |

| Hi there I realise that it's not unusual to have unplanned endings with clients, but I've had two recently that have left me with a feeling of greater than usual sadness. Perhaps I also feel I 'got something wrong' with these clients, both of whom I felt confident about working with to help them thr... |

Talking with a GP practice recently, we all agreed that their biggest group of service users that suffer depression an... |

| Hi Mel That happened to me recently too! I know that my psychotherapist books people in on the hour and I don't object to that, but I must admit that I usually try and go for a little walk round if my bus is early, so that I won't see the other person leave. The realities of being in private practic... |
